BULLying

There is a developing trend here of people piling on to dump on people that make little mistakes, or state things that people tend to disagree with or even things the person didn’t state but the read assumed. Anywhere else we would call it bullying.

The vast majority of people here are very supportive of their fellow posters and that makes for an excellent board. However all you have to do is read the lead line of some people’s postings that state comments like (I'm paraphrasing) 'please read the whole thing before you trash me' or 'I'm hesitant to post this because ...'. The more people avoid posting to the board the more we lose as readers. I know that I have not posted on several occasions because of how I thought it would be received.

Maybe people should go back and read the WHOLE posting before they feel a need to respond. Similarly it doesn't hurt to consider that there was a typo in a post and inform the person via a PM before instead of, or before posting on the board.

I’m not suggesting we stifle feedback, or filter messages, or ignore the bashers, or post inaccurate information etc. But, let’s try to be a little more tolerant and maybe even a little supportive. After all you never know what any individual may find and decide to share with the board unless they stay around long enough to get used to sharing their thoughts and knowledge.

.... Been There
