The answer to why they starting drilling at DE1 instead of DE3 first may lie in the fact that at the time, they had not completed their geophysics:

Aeroquest International Limited, overseen by Scott Hogg and Associates, survey started on
October 15th and to date they have flown 1,102 kilometers.

DE2 was their next target, identified during phase I of their Aerotem survey, then they started on DE3. Rest assured, they are consulting with Neil Novak of SPQ, who identified the DE1 drill site. They (NOT and SPQ) will find more there! IMHO
