"A lab would be nice but what immediately comes to mind is conflict of interest issues with the TSX and any other authorities that govern exploration. You can't have the Fox checking on the chickens. Not sure if that is true, just seems logical from experience in other industries.

.... exactly right PM.  At the most they could determine what they had while sending out for simultaneous independent assays to be announced later.  It would also be rather expensive, however, it would provide them with more immediate info for drilling purposes and could certainly be used to indicate resources to majors pending an independent report.  It could be quite an advantage getting quick reports back for dozens of core samples while others wait many weeks to months.  The idea still sounds a bit fetched though
