"Safer bets pay off less so no real argument from me. Long shots do come in and pay off big. For me at this stage I'd rather back off a bit and look for 30 to 40% return over a few months than try for 1000 percent"

...... and a perfectly legit way to operate, particularly if the 30-40% is based on a goodly sum of cash..... a great way to play.
