I read your first post, Joe, and the replies. I do not take exception to the replies as I think they were on track. However, everything your broker told you was mostly correct. Noront shares that trade on nosof are the same company. The only difference is that this block or float is held and traded down there. I was happy you planned to hold long term because by then the price and demand will sort itself out. Like another said, only the dollar differnce should be reflected.  When your broker said the price on nosof could be $1.00 while in Canada it could be $6.00 is right but very unlikely. In my opinion, the wide price difference right now is caused by the fear in the markets and nobody wants NOT on the nosof market. That is temporary I'm sure. However, I have read more than once troubles others have who buy Canadian stocks from a U.S. based broker who does not or cannot trade with Canadian exchanges. I was surprised TDameritrade is one since it is owned by TD Bank, one of the big five banks in Canada. Wells Fargo I understand. So what's a solution for you? One is to hold long term and I favour that. Then I am sure in time you will get a fair price when demand dictates that. The other is to get your certificate and take it where they do trade on a Canadian exchange. The other option is to transfer to a firm who trades on Canadian exchanges. With another stock I own there are U.S. citizens who own it, have had your problems, and found a broker who trades on Canadian exchanges, and they are very happy about it. Makes it a lot easier when you want to sell. The last thing you want is to have to sell a stock that doesn't plan out like you thought it would on this nosof market. It is guaranteed you will take a double beating. Hope this is helpful along with the other good advice you recieved.
