Hello NOT faithful,
I have just read an article in the latest issue of The Northern Miner, that I consider quite meaningful. The article is regarding their......
"top 10 mining stories of 2007".
Based on my impression of the media's reaction, so far, to the Noront story, I thought that if we made it into the article at all, it would be near #10.
I started reading........it's in the David Letterman style, starting with number 10.
Drum roll please.........................
10. the rise and fall of the uranium price
9. mid-tier M & A activity...eg. Norilsk's takeover of LionOre
8. Aurelian's delineation of 13.7 million oz. of gold in Ecuador
7. the fall of the U.S. dollar
6. problems in British Columbia ....eg. shelving of Galore Creek

By now, I didn't think we had a chance!

5. Geopolitical problems faced by miners, worldwide
4. collapse of Southwestern Resources gold project in China
3. NORONT RESOURCES "great success" at its Double Eagle project. They quote assay results of the first hole, and go on to state that the area play will be one of he "hot" stories of 2008.

The third top mining story of 2007....interesting......we all know what a big story it is, but I didn't think any of the media had really noticed. I guess, when Richard told me back in early September that the discovery at Double Eagle was "very, very significant" and "the most significant discovery in Canada right now", he knew what he was talking about.
Since the #2 and #1 stories (see below) are not Canadian persay, then that makes us the #1 Canadian mining story of 2007.

2. China now ranking as the largest consumer of minerals
1. Major M & A....eg. Freeport and Phelps Dodge, Rio and BHP

BTW, great post Benton,
and sorry to hear of all the colds and flu attacking the Noront family.
Holding with even more confidence, Canseco
