If you are going to look-up a definition, make sure you look at everything that captures the meaning of the concept. Key to the concept of adjacent is the fact the there is nothing of the same kind between two things that are adjacent, even if there is space between them.
The point of my raising this issue intitially was to raise awareness about exactly what BMK as stating in their NR. There are, however, some who take things personally and like to make a battle out of everything instead of listening to the 'message'. I'd like to think we are all on the same team, and it too bad that we cannot all approach this forum with the same, dare I say, constructive mindset.

adjacent may or may not imply contact but always implies absence of anything of the same kind in between <a house with an adjacent garage>. adjoining definitely implies meeting and touching at some point or line

contiguous implies having contact on all or most of one side
<offices in all 48 contiguous states>.
juxtaposed means placed side by side especially so as to permit comparison and contrast
<a skyscraper juxtaposed to a church>.
