You are correct in that a pumper can do as much damage as a basher. However if you pump a real winner that has the goods the second part of a pumpers job is quite difficult. That is to dump the stock before in crashs again. Pumpers would be more fitting for stocks that have no goods.

A basher on the other hand bashs a good stock to keep the price down for what ever game they are playing.
