Be aware of settlement dates

Investors must also conclude their tax-loss selling by the end of the year. Given that trade settlements take three days, you should do your selling by Dec. 24 for Canadian investments and Dec. 26 for U.S. securities so that the trade closes in the 2007 tax year.
