I do believe we are in to a long term strong, sustained market for commodities of many types and I agree with miskealp's take on the reason why base metals will be among the top tier commodities and the need to have more of the Planet move to developed economy status.
As for the actions of the Central Bankers. I sense that they are doing their best, though very late in the game, to prevent Economic Recession, let alone Depression and will largely succeed. It will not be fun to experience but they will succeed.
As for their actions serving to bail out the Financials responsible for exploiting loopholes and shortcomings in rules and regulation, I believe they will be helping these characters only to the extent of preventing a total freeze up in Financial Market Liquidity and Loans transactions activities. With this, these characters will not suffer to the extent they should in an 'Open and Free Market Place' (knowing full well that such a thing has never and will never exist), but will not be permitted to drag the entire world into a complete state of anarchy and confusion. At the same time we are presently witnessing the superb manipulation of these slick operators and their halfling kin, many in the Hedge Fund business and the like, run hot and heavy all over the place with their HOT money, running a muck where ever their cash touches down for any length of time.
So, the world economy will survive, the US economy will prosper with a lower US Dollar, and Commodities will remain strong. We will pay some of the cost of the HOT money (too much!), but with resolve, the HOT money will get a serious dousing in the process.
Old Joe
PS: Be very careful where you put your investment funds and savings. If you are not careful or doing insufficient DD, you may end up holding the HOT money bag.
Holding Noront Strong and Long!
Best for the Season to ALL!!!
