that, using the most recent example, some folks come into this forum and cast doubt when the share price is weak, and the minute it takes off, so do they because it turns out they were just "killing time".

Hmmmm, I have a conspiracy theory of my own and I don't give two hoots if I'm called a crackpot theorist. But don't get me wrong, I'm not naming names.
