Go to slackpackers.com or do a search for geology 101 but check this site first.

They are a hiking site with a section geology 101. It is not a course. Merely a way to explain to hikers the types of terrain etc. that they might stumble through.

I hope this info might just give you some info and then you could move up from there.  It is a very interesting and exiting venture to undertake. Wish I was younger and had the time.....Don
