Having accounted for the cost of logging roads in Ontario for about 20 years I can assure you that the contractor will be making money at the 11-12K range. We have been able to keep our primary road costs slightly under that level in as much bog as well.

That being said, Ontario currently is funding the forest industry 100% of the cost of 'primary road construction' and wil continue to do this until the forestry sector rebounds. This could mean free roads IF a forestry company were to be logging in the area.

Clearly if we get to the point of needing roads we need to partner with the forestry sector to get the roads built. It should be remembered that forestry activites are a public process and harvest areas are planned at least 5 years in advance so we should be moving sooner rather than later on this one. Maps exist showing who holds the timber allocations between the town and DE.

I'd be happy to assist in any dealings with MNR (Ministry of Natural Resources).
