Media Advisory: Ceremony to Welcome First Russian Ship to Churchill
WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(Marketwire - Oct. 16, 2007) - The Churchill Gateway Development Corporation is pleased to announce that the first-ever shipment via ocean vessel from Russia to Churchill will arrive in Churchill on October 17, 2007. After unloading its cargo, the ship will be loaded with Prairie wheat destined for Italy.
A ceremony will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at the Port of Churchill to mark this historic occasion, part of a banner year for business through the northern port. Officials will be present from the Russian Trade Commission, the Murmansk Shipping Company, Churchill Gateway Development Corporation, Hudson Bay Port Company (OmniTRAX, Inc.), Farmers of North America, the Canadian Wheat Board, the Province of Manitoba and Western Economic Diversification.
Media are welcome to attend. Daily commercial flights depart Winnipeg for Churchill each morning, with return flights available in the evening.
