For many of us who have followed Noront intensively for the past few weeks, months, or year, there has never seemed to be a ryhme or reason to the increases and dips.
That is until now..
After re-reading the Financial Post article, there is one item that I believed caught everyone's attention:
"The stock catapulted from pennies to more than $4 a share, and the big boys, such as CVRD Inco and Xstrata PLC, are already inquiring about the deposit. Noront expects one of them to eventually buy the company.
"They all want to come in and kick the tires. We'll get a big major in there to develop it eventually. This thing is getting bigger and bigger," Mr. Nemis says. "
We're looking at takeover here. I'm not saying in the next few days, or weeks, or even months, but a true target nonetheless.
IBK was hired for their expertise in helping companies avoid takeovers, or if that is impossible, extracting the most possible in the final offer. It was IBK who worked with Richard Nemis last year in arranging the financing as well as helping to put the shareholder's right plan into place.
I believe the increase in the share price now is a combination of market awareness as to the Noront story as well as consideration of the large resource companies taking a look. Every investment bank wants a piece of the action in what has been a less than stellar year for most of them with the sub-prime crisis.
For the longs, we were in the right place at the right time. The planets have aligned after being given an incredible opportunity to accumulate cheap shares after the initial Windfall results. In many ways the shorters and manipulators did all those who held a favor in the long run as they ran the price down form $1.07 to .$29 over eight months. That seems like an eternity ago.
I mentioned yesterday that we had found a new bottom at $4. I stated this based on the missing link, and that was big press coverage. Look for more of the NOT story to get picked up by the mainstream press as results continue to pour in and share prices increase.
Like ARU in 2006, NOT is well on its way to being the TSX Venture stock of the year for 2007.
