Interesting. I am not a gold bug but as for the Subprime Paper stuff, I heard a couple weeks ago that China is a little peeved that several of their banks got snaged with so much of this paper. My thought was that someone must have deliberately bundled a lot of (not dispersing it into the general market) it and shipped it out. Problem is that to extent it is true, it adds to the situation Mr. Bernanke is finally beginning to face up to. IMO (as far as I can see)

Resources (esp high grade base - world class) should do best here.
