I was told that, in Canada shares can be transfered to the new broker, but that the transfering broker has 10 days to transfer them.  During that time they are in limbo and you can't do anything with them. 

I thought of changing brokers but had some things that we didn't want out of sight.

Our NOT is all in RRSP's.
