When you confiscate the people's gold, then devalue the paper dollar by printing more of them, it's not too difficult to create an illusion of a booming economy using the metric of the dollar (Federal Reserve Note) that the New Deal printed out of thin air. And that political party printing the dollars (debt) can enjoy all the 'growth' it can create by creating debt. If I stole the people's real money, put forth an edict that only the money I printed from here on out was legal tender, and had a printing press to print that "money", I suppose I could create any illusion I wanted to as well, for any agenda I wanted to 'progress' by printing unlimited money and spending that 'money' only on projects / policies I wanted.

Sorry that it takes someone with an intelligence of Tesla to understand, well, Tesla.
