Arab money is well spent. Money talks .....and BS walks. Remember Hillary and Slick were pro Chinese in their day, not to omit NAFTA . The Walmart connection, satellite launch technology xfr's to the Chinese, access to Los Alamos, Sleep overs in the Lincoln Bedroom, investment flows and jobs to China. Before long the US will have a standard of living that will not be the envy of the third world and thus have solved much of it's illegal immigration problems. After our recognition of the new normal, toads and frogs may again enjoy maintaining parity.
I'll give you this Sedley........you're thought provoking!! This is for you: http://funstufftosee.com/frogleaptest.html
Here's an insightful screed that may interest readers drawn to the light.
For three decades American industry has been shipping jobs - and the income taxes that support government - overseas. They are now pitting Mexican and Chinese workers against each other to see who is willing to work for less money. When you think about it, it's the "winner" who loses.
This country was financially founded on Capitalism. Well managed capitalism is good. It produces jobs and a thriving economy for everybody involved. Even government prospers because of the tax revenue produced by many good paying jobs.
Unfortunately, anything that is taken to excess, even capitalism, is doomed to self destruct. Everything needs to be in balance. The ratio of CEO pay to factory worker pay rose from 42:1 in 1960 to as high as 531:1 in 2000, at the height of the stock market bubble, when CEOs were cashing in big stock options. It was at 411:1 in 2005 and 344:1 in 2007.
The big push to outsource jobs is very shortsighted. Most of the companies that do this are companies that manufacture things rather than service providers. Real economic growth and prosperity depends on the manufacturing of goods, not providing services. These CEOs have literally given away America's wealth. They are now starting to feel the repercussions of their decisions in the 1980's and 90's. The people they fired are no longer able to afford the products they used to make. In fact, they cannot afford almost ANY products. The people they employ in Mexico and China for 30 cents to $1.50/hour can't afford the products either. By outsourcing jobs they have decimated their customer base and comdemned themselves to an accelerated cycle of shrinking profit margins, the search for cheaper labor and unrealized hopes for higher efficiency and lower material costs while maintaining some illusion of quality.
My money says NONE of the CEO's will have the garbonzos to reverse this trend. It took hundreds of companies and corporations following the foolish few to cheap labor markets (egged on by high priced con men - oops, I meant consultants) over a period of decades to get us into the financial mess we are in now. When you use very high short term profits as bait you can catch a lot of short sighted CEOs and stockholders.
One thing the government could do, but probably won't because of lobbyists, is to tax the American companies that left thousandsof unemployed workers in their wake as they moved overseas. It's just not right that the CEOs can cause massive unemployment throughout the nation because of their impulsive decisions in the past and then expect government (through OUR tax dollars) to pick up the tab for welfare, unemployment, Medicaid, food stamp programs, utility assistance, rent assistance, etc. These companies should be held accountable for the problems they have caused. The fact that they can just walk away and pocket huge profits at our expense just isn't right, but it is legal. The real slap in the face was the Wall Street bailout when the guys that helped make the mess were rewarded with millions of dollars (each!) in bonuses funded by the bailout. Our government's response? "Well, we don't like it but it is legal because of the CEO's contract with their company". I would laugh about this if it were happening in some Bananna Republic with a weasel dictator but this is happening right here in America! This needs to stop.
The economy isn't the only hole in the ship either. We have Illegal Aliens from Mexico raping, killing, stealing cars, smuggling drugs and basicly leaching off us unrestrained. We can't afford this. We have a muslim in the white house (I'm not going to argue this point, so don't bother) who is promoting and defending a Religious/Political hybrid called "Islam". A thorough study of this so-called "religion" will reveal that it is bent on world conquest since it's inception. I'm getting tired of bailing water. Let's plug the holes in 2012.
