I don't think that will ever happen. There have been way to many changes in this world since the 50's and 60's. It sems like such a short time ago but things have gotten way too complicated. America's biggest worry back then was Russia. Today it's the Middle East, Russia, China, N. Korea, Latin America, the ACLU, and the Ultra Liberals and judges in this country. The fabric of this country has changed.
Those who stand for the core principles that this country was fouinded on have become unexplainable silent. The technologies in the past 20 years (internet mainly) have allowed the moral decay to accelerate to the point that nothing is sacred any more. Today it's all about sex, violence and human oddity of all sorts. Just watch the news and read the net.
I remember the first time I ever saw someone actually killed. Shot DEAD! It was on TV. You may have seen it on an occasional rerun since then, but it probably didn't affect you the way it did me, and maybe others at the time. The reason it may not have affected those in your age group (assuming you are fairly young) is that you probably have seen much worse since then, via the net and TV. The event I am referencing is a newscast during the Vietnam war. A S. Vietnam soldier shot a VC soldier in the head on TV. Actually blew his brains out on TV. Shocked the hell out of me as I never saw a man die before, yet there was killing going on everyday in Nam, you just read about it, never actually saw it until then.
The Tea Parties and recent town hall mtgs. are the first signs of life I have seen from the folks of my era in a long time. I have not seen a million man march or protests and violence in cities where property destruction has cost the taxpayers money to oppose things my generation has disagreement on. Nope haven't seen it ! So we sit silent while the ACLU, the Ultra Libs., Judges and the Gov't continue to rewrite the constitution and erode our rights every day.
Maybe one day people will say, enough! "We are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore." I, like you, was born here. Just a quirk of fate! I didn't kill any Indians to live here, didn't own a slave nor did my ancestors who came here in the early 1900's. Matter of fact, I don't think any blacks alive today were slaves. That is not to diminish the effects of those situations on those groups, but we all have to move past and move on. We live here in the USA and we need to fight to bring it back to where it once was, the greatest nation on earth. Nations looked up to us, now they scorn, ridicule and want to kill us. No, not because of Bush and his policies, it goes back beyond that. But, somehow, after saving the arses of most of the world at some time, we are looked at as a Demon. Well I say good, lets not give ANY country ANY aid of ANY sort. Lets use that money here at home to feed our hungry, fix our health sytem, educate our children (who have become dumb as rocks) and lower our taxes. Lets start making products again. Lets put people back to work so that all Americans can lead a better life and let the rest of the world live in the sh%t they created.
Short of another revolution, either of our minds or of our actions, I don't think the America of my day will ever reappear.
See, I feel much better now!
