Your history is a little lacking in this area of separation of church and state..................




" I believe in the seperation of church and state, like our forefathers have professed."

You are referring to a letter written by Thomas Jafferson to the Danbury Baptists. While the Founding Fathers believed in "separation of Church and State", they were assuring that no sect would be imposed as the official sect of America and not referring to a separation of God and State. They were clearing the way for complete freedom of religion, unlike the rest of the world where, for the most part, people were supposed to be either Anglican or Roman Catholic, depending upon which country they were living in. Interestingly though, Thomas Jefferson finished his letter to the Danbury Baptists and went to church which at that time was held in the Congressional chambers. (Not a lot of separation.)
