I for one had my mind made up a long time ago, but not for the reasons you may believe.
Although a registered Republican, I do not agree with everything the Republican party stands for necessarily. I joined the Republican party based on values. There are many values that the Republican party espouses, but doesn't always do a good job of implementing. I joined the Republican party primarily as a means to fight liberalism, not because I thought the Republican party could do no wrong. I could even vote for a Democrat. There are a lot of values on the Democratic side of the house I could get behind. But alas, the Democratic party has been hijacked by liberals. I could NEVER vote for a liberal or anything that they stand for; my values and integrity would not allow it.
I look at our existing candidates the same way. I'll vote for McCain based on his values and track record as opposed to Obama's lack of values and no track record. The choice is clear.
I will absolutely listen to every debate I can to better understand both candidates. But unless Obama can go from an extreme liberal to at least a moderate conservative; there is no way I would ever vote for him.
McCain is far from my first choice as a candidate. In fact, he's probably the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the Republican candidates fielded. But again, between him and Obama, the choice is clear.
I'm with you Srandl, you make a lot of sense.
