The real problem is keeping the nukes out of the hands of the middle eastern countries. These are the people that concern me as they have little regard for life. They cherish death while we cherish life. Unfortunately the world and people in our own country will not support U.S. efforts to do what is necessary. Doing nothing will surely mean a broader war later where death counts will be in the millions instead of the thousands. Unfortunately it will probably take a nuke going off in New York or L A to change public and world opinion of the dangers from the middle east in the form of terrorists or rouge nations like Iran. If a big city in the U.S. goes down with a nuke, that's when a war will be unleashed the world has never seen unfortunately. This is horrible to think about but very possible in the future.
