It was James Reston, of the NYT, that wrote about him, describing him as "the George Washington of Cuba". The media, Eleanor Roosevelt and even Jack Paar pushed Castro as a savior of Cuba. Later, when the truth was known, Jack Paar claimed that his support was given to help Jose Meles' family. (Meles was his pianist)

Indeed, the communists have had control of the media in this country for years and have become stronger and stronger. Does anyone recall what was done to Chiang Kai-shek following the second World War? They disarmed his troups while the Chinese communists fell heir to the weapons left behind by the defeated Japanese. The Chinese communists had for years been fighting Chiang, but they were helped, not hindered once the WW was over. Eventually, the anti-communists were forced to flee to Taiwan. And there's more and more and more to tell. It would take weeks.
