The Christmas tree business has been pretty good although the price has dropped quite a bit in the last few years. There is a glut supply of real trees and each year we lose market share to artificial trees. These artificial trees are manufactured in China and are made out of plastic. I think that people are mis informed about real Christmas trees and if they cared about the environment and jobs in this country they would think twice about buying a fake tree. I think people think we are ravaging the forests, but nothing is further from the truth in fact. Christmas trees are grown on farms just like carrots, corn or any other crop for the sole purpose of Christmas enjoyment. The Christmas tree is biodegradable and an acre produces enough oxygen for 18 people to breathe a year, so it is actually great for the environment in this living green world.
What would you like better a dozen real roses that are good for the environment and keep jobs in this country or a dozen plastic roses made in China. I think that is the choice people need to understand to reverse this trent to artificial.
All the best,
Steve
