I think I like baseball because I played it as a kid. First in the street and then at the local church ball field where we really got into it. I never understood football.......all the rules, regulations, penalties and that sort of thing, but baseball I "got."
It was fun playing ball in the streets of the city (Detroit) at a time when there wasn't much traffic. When I was a little girl, our milkman came in a horse and buggy until just a couple of years before WWII. I just reminded myself of another sports celebrity that I"ve had a brief acquaintance with.......you probably won't recognize the name, but it was Sid Abel, the captain of the Detroit Red Wings. He was, when I knew him, just a player and not yet captain of the team. He lived just into the next block with his wife, Gloria Merandi, who had been the babysitter for my sis and me. He'd walk from the bus to his home and if we were playing ball in the street, he'd always join us.....just for a couple of minutes. He was a very nice guy.
There you have it.......another saga in the life of Marilyn. It hasn't been ALL good, but it's never been boring!
