I received a wrtten letter from Senator Bunning:
Thank you for contacting me about S. 1145, the Patent Reform Act of 2007. It is good to hear from you.
as you may already know, S.1145, which was intriduced by Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) 0n April 18, 2007, would propose significant legal reforms to the patent system. These reforms include a shift to a first-inventor-to file priority system, substantive and procedural modifications to the doctrine of wilful infringement, and adoption of assignee filing, post-grant review proceedings, prior user rights, and pre-issuance publication of all pending applications. S.1145 was passed by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary on July 19, 2007 and is currently awaiting consideration on the floor of the Senate. I know there are problems and abuses in the current system, and Congress should take steps to remedy those. I will take a close look at this bill and any amendments should this legislation come before me in the Senate.
Thanks for taking the time to share your views with me. I hope to hear from you again.
Best personal regards,
JIM BUNNING
Several additional points from me:
1. Thanks again Manor, for giving me the inspiration to write my Senators. I have yet to hear from Senator McConnell, the Senate Minority Leader.
2. An aside Sports fan, you may remember that Jim Bunning is in the Baseball Hall of Fame and he pitched for the Detroit Tigers.
3. Ronran, thanks for your efforts in writing to PTSC. I did not participate but I have given out much personal information on this board and there is one person, unnamed for all time, that I no longer trust at all that squashed my efforts at personalization. Your effort in helping board members to understand the intricacies of what is happening legally to PTSC is exemplary.
4. Mr. David Pohl, you have performed admirably in a very tough situation over the past 3 years. I am sure that bringing the powers to be together, TPL/PTSC, will be your crowning achievement and one which will generate significant revenue for years to come for Patriot Scientific Corporation.
5. The departure of Mr. Pohl marks a significant change in the direction of PTSC. It will be interesting to watch, very carefully, what will occur in the next months. Significant Change may be afoot.
6. Congratulations to PTSC on an important licensure today, which as Jim Turley described, shows the "true ubiquitousness" (existence everywhere at the same time) of the MMP.
Salutations to All.
