Hewlett-Packard Licenses Patriot Scientific Microprocessor Patents (PTSC, HPQ)

The Microcap Speculator submits: Patriot Scientific (ticker: PTSC.ob), my favorite of the patent licensng companies, is up nearly 25% today on news that Hewlett Packard (ticker: HPQ) has licensed the Moore Microprocessor Patent portfolio, co-owned by Patriot Scientific and TPL Group. This helps PTSC in two ways. First, PTSC will see a healthy chunk of license revenue from this agreement. Second, the fact that Intel (ticker: INTC), AMD (ticker: AMD) and now HP have licensed the patent portfolio gives legitimacy to the patents and should help leverage further licensing deals from other OEMs.

UPDATE (1/24): This morning Patriot formally announced the deal. Our readers knew the story yesterday.
