Just to clarify, these new options give the ability to buy shares at a fixed, previously agreed, price subject to some SEC rules. They do not OWN, nor can they vote, the underlying shares until they EXERCISE their option to BUY some or all.
One more thing... Options generally immediately vest and become immediately exercisable in the case the company is acquired.
