Example:

Better check the garage! I think I heard that DL sold the expensive car along with several other cars on his used car lot..... So you think there are any rights left to get the car back? Yes, but the leg and paper work will have to be done to get it back.

Someone can sell a car if they don't own it. They can sell it if the title is clouded. But that does not mean the buyer(s) [AAPL or others] really is (are) legally the new owner. And if the first buyer sells it to a second buyer the second buyer doesn't leagally own it either. What if the second buyer knows that the deal was too good to be true and of a suspicious nature(!!!!) but goes ahead and buys it anyway???

Someone can't sell what is not rightfully theirs and have the transaction be legal.

Now let's talk about the insurance coverage if the car is still really legally in the orginal person's name and the first or second buyer gets into an "accident"? If the owner and all the buyers have insurance the first and second buyers insurance companies are going to go right over to the legal owner to collect. What if the the real owner was not at falt and has a claim to get paid for injuries? Who is the insurance company going to pay?

What is going to happen to the people who sold something that didn't belong to them in the first place?

What is going to happen to the people that sold grandma's or the kid's ( ie, shareholders) car when they had a responsiblility to get the best price possible because they represented grandma or the kid?

Ray, I believe you may recall this as a "chef's salad" concept, n'est-ce pas?
