I say infringe..take away the ring oscillator and what do you have left? Take away the engine in the car..and you have nice add ons (turbo charge, headers, dual exhaust, ect.) and you have add ons that are nice and may improve performance but don't work on their own without the engine and the engine set up...

The car still works with just the engine - but not the reverse...
