It would be extremely dangerous for INTC to be transferring software to Japan, in any media form -
There are very strict encryption laws related to exporting software media out of the U.S. - applies to homegrown as well as mass-production software - If there`s ANYTHING that`s encrypted/embedded in the software, it legally cannot be exported for research or resale - If INTC has done this, we should/will point this out and take them and the Fuji 5 to their knees, along with bringing INTC directly up on Federal charges...that`d be neat PR, eh?
The basis for my statement goes back to when I worked for a local company - (as late as 5 years ago) when we shipped anything to Fujitsu or our satellite office in Japan, we (I) had to do extensive research on the software (either by working with the engineer who wrote it, or with the company that produced it), to either insure any encrypted software was either wiped out, or an un encrypted version was available and shippable.
To my knowledge, there weren`t any exceptions to this rule, no waivers....
As a side note, in todays era of electronic mail with file transfers happing at will, this is a difficult task at best to police...
- more grist for the mill.
