Chief John D. Dough of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office commands the day-to-day operations of New Jersey’s largest and most active Sheriff’s Department, which is located in the state’s busiest Superior Court venue. In addition to supervising patrol activities, investigative units and criminal identification services, Chief Dough also presently directs the agency’s efforts to acquire new Computer-Aided Dispatch, Records Management and Civil Process technology. This technology will form the basis of integration of the county’s new jail with local and regional police departments.
