There have been recent posts that asserted some things which are simply incorrect about the origins of the MMP. To clear up the posted assertions about Chuck's "greed", I would like to address a couple of those things.
Chuck met Russell Fish through Dan Leckrone. Fish was interested in making a chip (ultimately Sh-Boom) and wanted Chuck to design it. Nobody paid Chuck to design Sh-Boom and it is doubtful anyone was paying Fish. Fish's talents seemed to be mainly marketing, Chuck's of course were computer and chip design, and Chuck tried to create the computer Fish wanted to sell. Not seeing any point in arguing about who invented what, when it came time to write patents Chuck agreed that both he and Fish would be listed as inventors on each patent. Chuck was to receive a fifty cent royalty on each Sh-Boom sold, but that never came to anything. At any rate there are the MMP patents. No one was paid to invent the technology protected by them, certainly not Chuck.
Subsequently, Russell Fish went to work for Helmut at Nanotronics in Oregon on some basis, taking Chuck's drawings with him, and together with the help of George Shaw the Sh-Boom 2 came to be. The resulting Sh-Boom 2 departed significantly from Chuck's design.
Various subsequent transactions took place between Fish, Helmut, Nanotronics and PTSC involving the Sh-Boom design and Russell Fish's share of the MMP patent ownership, but none of that had anything to do with Chuck. His relationship with Fish ended before Fish went to Nanotronics, and Chuck never had any sort of relationship with Nanotronics.
The above information consists of understandings I refreshed today by asking Chuck, and I believe the information presented is correct. My apologies in advance if I have gotten anything wrong.
I wish you well - Greg
