What amazes me is that with all the varied ethnic groups, traditions, personalities that are affected by this large variety of race, and culture known as the United States. We somehow manage to get along. Even those that are arch rivals, or enemies in their native countries somehow manage to leave their disputes behind, for the most part, and live in at least peace , if not total unity or agreement here.
It sometimes isn't perfect, or pretty to watch events unfold. Sometimes the reporting of those events may be biased, but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else!
I am proud of those that go against their own to serve the cause of those of a diffent ethnicity. I thank God that our Fore Fathers had the courage and wisdom to declare that "all men are equal". . I am amazed that there exist places where men are content, or forced to think and act differently. Why is that? I guess it is what truly makes us different and unique.
Ron Reagan once gave a speach at the top of a bluff on Normandy Beach. He wondered how men could climb that bluff with other men shooting at them. Hand grenades being thrown at them as they climbed. The climb alone unencumbered could be frightening. He asked, amazed that anyone would attempt such a feat, "where do we find these men, where do all these men come from". My guess would be all over the world, they just happened to make America their last stop, and must have been pretty impressed by what they found.
God bless them, and all of you. If you happen to not believe in God, tuff. This is America. I can pretty much say what I want. Thanks to the sacrifices of millions of others and those that gave "the last full measure of devotion".
We as a Nation are not what we once were, or are we now what we will become. But not one of us doubts that our journey will not follow a path that isn't fair, at times forgiving, and for the most part, best for all concerned.
Happy Birthday America.
