I know. It's an upside world. To suggest I am floating trial balloon is laughable also. This is not my first go-round with a company possibly being taken private - See Ampex. That's why I am so familiar with this scenario. I was on the sidelines when that all came down-thankfully. Not so here.
I don't think what I am about to say is all that controversial. People take risks and benefit themselves before they start thinking about shareholder value. In a perfect world all is aligned to benefit all proportionately when things go well. As we all know-it is not a perfect world however. It is what it is.
I am with SGE in that the BOD certainly has done many of the things we all have clamored for over the years. I won't rehash but you know it's true.
It is this retrospective incessant bashing that is the most harmful and serves no other purpose than but to drive potential shareholders away that might be considering plunking down a small or large pile of cash.
As for your cut & pastes- Corporations are set up to benefit those people who set them up first and shareholders second.
In a for-profit corporation, the board of directors is responsible to the stockholders
It is implied by the above that those people putting their money and time on the line will serve their own interests and THEN stockholders.
Any other interpretation in the real world is incredibly naive. Why would anyone form a corporation otherwise? Why bother?
No ideas anywhere on this board make any sense. Bashing only drives the share price lower making it easier to either scoop up shares more cheaply or to help in any effort to take the company private-wittingly or unwittingly that is the net effect we are all witness to. Plain as the nose on our face and the .14 share price.
Forget about the past. What would you do right now to "enhance shareholder value"? Can you guarantee that your plan will be effective? I didn't think so. Everyone's an expert looking back in time.
