If, in fact, Patriot is considering outsourcing portions of the CDX/Vigilys software development, Dharmesh Mistry would certainly be an asset in the placement of that outsourcing, notwithstanding, of course, the apparent conflict of interest if the contract goes to Cognizant Technology Solutions.
To the BoD's credit, Dharmesh Mistry come to us with far more experience than just within the outsourcing business. Per the PR...
Mr. Mistry has over 16 years of experience working in the software development industry, currently holding management positions directed at business development and the delivery of consulting services for Cognizant Technology Solutions, a leading provider of information technology, consulting, and business process outsourcing services.
"We are pleased we will be adding an additional independent, experienced and highly qualified individual to our Board. Dharmesh's track record for guiding innovative technologies to market is impressive and he will be a tremendous addition to this board," said Carl Johnson, Patriot's Executive Committee Chairman. "We look forward to the opportunity to draw upon his insight and guidance as we shape the direction of the Company," added Mr. Johnson.
PDSG provides software, but further is a consulting business, providing consulting services in support of the CDX solution. IEPDs, for example, are provided by PDSG as a consulting service, and are necessary for standards-based (NIEM) data sharing implementation.
I would suggest that Dharmesh Mistry may be providing support from his new BoD position on much more than outsourcing, however his experience in the outsourcing business as gathered during his tour at Cognizant Technology Solutions may be beneficial to PDSG in lower overhead on the software development side. I have posted before that as software, CDX is a candidate for improvement through revision, as all software typically is, and is likely ready for a "next generation" version due to the two-year-plus life of the current version. Outsourcing may be a way to lower costs.
But, as always, we are all in a position to wait-and-see.
Cheers,
DG
