The most remarkable part of yesterday's PR was the combination of three important messages:
- german validation
- '584 recert
- '336 recert
Remember the german decision was a short and sober message without any pressure and additionally we didn't get any news on the '584, so IMO it's obvious TPL/PTSC were patiently waiting to get everything together before announcing a big and "aggressive" PR (like they did yesterday).
If we furthermore take for granted, that TPL/PTSC knew from the upcoming NIRC for the '336 at least as long as we do here on this board, THEN I don't think it's a far stretch to assume they informed a lot of companies in Europe, Asia and the US, that now has come the final possibility to sign a license before a sharp rise in license fee. Not saying that they are promising "early bird fees" (I'm sure these are not available anymore), but from a sales man's point of view I'd give them a chance in order to start a "licensing momentum".
In a nutshell: From the content and wording of the PR I expect new licensees in the next days (and not months), because the negotiations should have started when the NIRC was proclaimed.
All IMHO - GLTA
