Crossflo Systems Announces Winfield Wagner Appointment to NIEM Committees

Crossflo Employee Contributes to U.S. Department of Homeland Security and U.S.

Department of Justice National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) Project

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Crossflo Systems, Inc. announced that

Winfield Wagner, Crossflo's director, Integrated Justice Information Systems,

has been selected to serve as a National Information Exchange Model (NIEM)

project team member and to act as content manager for the NIEM public website.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of

Justice (DOJ) announced a partnership in February 2005 to develop a single

standard foundation for information exchange, and Mr. Wagner is a part of the

team responsible for the first release of this XML Language (NIEM 0.1)

announced October 6, 2005. The official version is scheduled for release by

June 1, 2006.

NIEM is an interagency initiative to provide the foundation and building

blocks for national-level interoperable information sharing and data exchange.

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is an open standard that will support NIEM's

ability to permit agencies to exchange data, regardless of computer system or

platform. NIEM is an enhanced version of the DOJ-sponsored Global Justice XML

Data Model (GJXDM) released for official use in 2004 to enable the entire

justice and public safety community to share information at all

levels -- laying the groundwork for data sharing at the local, state, tribal

and national levels.

James Feagans, OCIO - NIEM Program Manager at the DOJ noted, "The

expertise and fresh ideas that Winfield brings to the NIEM project have been

extraordinary. He will not only help align the website with the NIEM mission,

but will help develop it as a marketing and outreach tool for these vital

standards. We are indebted to both Winfield and Crossflo."

"We are proud to support the efforts of the DOJ and DHS in establishing

these new standards," said Renney Senn, Crossflo's president and chief

executive officer. "Our vision of open data exchange is embodied in our

DataExchange(TM) platform, which is both GJXDM and NIEM conforming. We are

honored that a Crossflo employee was selected from the many qualified

candidates to participate on this groundbreaking project aimed at enabling

government at all levels to share information. Winfield has been instrumental

in implementing and setting the GJXDM use standard, and we believe he will

prove as valuable in the NIEM project." For more information about NIEM,

Crossflo has been a frontrunner in the use of open standard information

sharing in the homeland security and justice arenas. Its DataExchange

platform has been used for multi-directional information sharing among a

variety of law enforcement and homeland security agencies. Information

sharing partners can rapidly and freely share data in a controlled manner

without requiring direct connection between their respective information

systems. In 2004, Crossflo was the first to link disparate data sources among

different state, local and maritime agencies in full conformity with GJXDM

standards. This data-sharing initiative, Regional Information Sharing and

Analysis (RISA), received national attention not only for its pioneering use

of the GJXDM standards but because it was implemented within a few weeks.

In addition to the NIEM committee, Mr. Wagner also serves as a corporate

representative for the Integrated Justice Information Sharing Institute (IJIS)

as a member of the XML Advisory Committee. He recently participated in IJIS

projects for the Ohio Local Law Enforcement Information Sharing Network

(OLLEISN) and for the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program's Information

Sharing Exchange Documentation Package. He also plays an active role in many

of the GJXDM supporting standards committees for OASIS and the IJIS Institute.
