It would appear that the appeals can go on for a very long time, provided the patent owner has time and $ to keep throwing at it. That is probably a good thing. And it raises the question -

At exactly what point is the patent no longer valid. I assume that as long as any reexam is under appeal, the patent remains valid and a court of law would treat it that way. Is this a correct understanding? Opty
