<TPL fired SEAForth employees in January 2009 and thus terminated the project. The status and future of S40 chips is unclear.>
The question is this. After dropping $40million into SEAFORTH, would Lekrone kill the project because of some other issue? Regardless of what anyone might think of Leckrone, we currently only have Moore's side of the story. So it's hard to figure whether killing SEAFORTH was a result of other issues or just difference of opinion on the value of continuing the program. How much more would have to be spent on top of the $40million already sunk? Was the chip commercially viable? Quite possible that Leckrone's unwillingness to continue to fund SEAFORTH may have been the spark that ignited the MMP ownership issue back in July of 2008.
There is no doubt Moore feels cheated with respect to the amount of $ that has come his way - but he's lived with it for many years. And the reason is the S40 chip. The S40 chip is Chuck's baby and to see all that time/effort/money go for naught, has got to be quite upsetting. After reading all the docs, I come away with the feeling that, if allowed to take the S40 chip design to conclusion, the issue of the MMP ownership becomes less of an issue for him. They operated for several years where the ownership didn't matter. I believe resolution of the S40 funding is the key. All IMHO Opty
