The IJIS Institute and its member companies Crossflo Systems, Delegata, Optimum Technology, and Vortx, provide project planning and management, consulting, software development, and interface documentation services in the creation of a PMIX Hub Server and the corresponding state PMP capabilities to exchange data.

Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)

The PMP Interstate Information Exchange (PMIX) program provides a standard and the capability enabling the interstate exchange of data on dispensed controlled substance prescriptions. This capability allows participating state PMPs and the prescribers they serve to “connect the dots” and detect doctor-shopping across multiple states to avoid triggering dispensing thresholds.

The approach being taken will minimize the cost and time of establishing automated information exchanges between disparate systems by taking advantage of the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) to produce commonly accepted data definitions and object structures. The IJIS Institute has been coordinating this development and making recommendations on behalf of participating states to extend NIEM where necessary to ensure a common national model. The initiative has been guided by a steering committee comprised of state PMP representatives, IJIS Institute members, and representatives of various federal interests.

Examples of our work supporting the Prescription Drug Monitoring program include:
