although I must say
I am a bit amused by those who, as always, automatically assume that
a development like this means that all of those alleged infringers
will now come knocking on our door with blank checks in hand, begging
to settle

Perhaps this is why there could be increased activity:

Fault is generally assumed because companies have an obligation to inform themselves about the patent situation in the relevant sector
