Both the 148 and the 336 came from original patent 749 that was filed Aug. 3, 1989. We then filed the 336 patent (alone) on 9/15/98. We filed the 148 patent (alone) on 7/22/03.

The re-exam started on the 148 on 9/21/06, the re-exam on the 336 began on 1/30/07.

I would guess the individual claims will make a difference at some point before this thing finalizes. Why did we split these patents up? Maybe it is a good thing we did? I don't know the answer.
