The light at the end of the tunnel

may not be making us squint yet, but there’s a glimmer in today’s news letter from President & CEO Rick Goerner. In general terms, he’s showing us the difference a “real CEO” can make, in a relatively short period of time. In more specific terms, he and the companies he’s acquired are showing a real understanding of how to quickly break into big markets where there’s lots of big competition all around. I tip my hat to RG and the folks running those businesses.

So is it time to buy more PTSC stock? I haven’t asked myself this question for over a year now – that in itself is telling.

First I’ll say that I still stand behind my short term outlook. This current Q’s EPS, to be reported in January, will not be good. With my increasing confidence that RG knows what he’s doing, I’m betting he’ll do what he should do and take all the $ hits he can this Q. It’s actually a good idea. The Q is bad (2 license sales) so you may as well make it worse. This could position PTSC for a sizable EPS improvement next Q. I like it even though we’ll likely see TTM EPS drop to somewhere between 0 and 1 cent.

The question is how many investors will read the january Q report as I will? If they take it at face value it will hurt the SP for a few Qs longer.
