Is the 148 really the "senior" patent here...I know they are not classified as CIP patents but I thought that 148 was being aided by 336 since it has an earlier filling date and riding off of that one.

Not that 148 has less importance just that it may be being helped by the earlier date for any prior art that could be used in any of the patent cases.
