Message: Anyone understand Claim 8 of 336?

Further to my question of the 336 and claim 8. Note what AD said in his declaration

<Prior to the invention of the '336 patent, the system clock would have to be synchronous with the slower input/output clock, slowing all operations of the microprocessor.

Claim 8 says the opposite

<8. The microprocessor system of claim 6 wherein said external clock comprises a fixed-frequency clock which operates synchronously relative to said oscillator.>

And that pretty much confirms what I suggested initially. The microprocessor is communicating with interface 432 based on sys RO clock and the outside world is communicating with interface 432 based on the FF external clock.

And now the following from the specification makes more sense.

<The external world must be synchronized to the microprocessor 50 for operations such as video display updating and disc drive reading and writing. This synchronization is performed by the I/O interface 432>

Feel much better now. Opty
