Hi All,
Perhaps this falls under the umbrella too much time on my hands today, but couldn’t resist trying to play the prediction game as to who this “video to mobile company” is. My prediction is based on an internet search using Google and using the information provided by RG in the 2 shareholder letters (cut and pasted far below). This is all a big IMO and really just amateur detective work and akin to the question of “what’s the weather going to be like tomorrow”.
I have highlighted in bold from RG’s letter’s the parameters/attributes that this company appears to satisfy.
Anyway.....
I predict/guess that this unnamed “networking provider of software to facilitate the transfer of video content to mobile devices” will be
------------------------------------...
Droplet Technology
www.droplet-tech.com.
Criteria A) Droplet’s product(s) seem to fit what RG is describing.
Criteria B) Droplet is Private, which I believe is confirmed by PTSC’s recent 10K statement of and initial investment of $149K.
Criteria C) Droplet is located in Silicon Valley (Menlo Park)
Criteria D) Company appears to have collaborated have worked with some international carriers already. Couldn’t confirm the contracted field trials thing, but that seems not to be public knowledge yet if you read RG’s statement again.
Criteria E) Software is apparently downloadable right to you mobile phone, so seems to fit the ability to “going on-line in one day download to an Asian Carrier” comment.
Criteria F) Size of company seems about right for Patriot based on what they have acquired or placed a stake in to date.
Criteria G) Potential is cutting edge (i.e. “differentiated”) as they are considered a “most promising new company” according to SVASE.
Criteria H) Process of elimination – didn’t find anyone else who fit all these parameters really…..
------------------------------------...
Heck, do your own DD, shoot the idea down, file it away until we know, sheesh, this is just a big IMO guess, so please view it as such. We will know soon enough.
Excerpts from last two shareholder Letters….
07/21/08 Shareholder Letter
Patriot has also presented and accepted a term sheet to acquire, in exchange for cash, nearly 20% of a networking provider of software to facilitate the transfer of video content to mobile devices. The term sheet outlined a small initial investment (which we have recently funded) and a second, larger, tranche that is subject to additional due diligence which we expect to complete by the end of August. Industry projections indicate that video-enabled handsets will increase from less than 5% today to more than 70% by 2011. We believe the company has differentiated technology and has recently contracted field trials with several major international carriers that will be launched before the end of 2008. I will provide more information on this opportunity in future updates as we move through the due diligence process. The company’s technology is a direct hit in our target to pursue software, wireless and networking technology.

Patriot Scientific has made progress in its due diligence efforts to validate the technology, and business assumptions, to acquire, for cash, nearly 20% of a Silicon Valley developer of mobile networking software to facilitate the transfer of video content to mobile devices. We are on track to complete the transaction by the end of August. Industry projections indicate that video-enabled handsets will increase from under 5% today to more than 70% by 2011. We believe this company has differentiated technology and has recently contracted field trials with several major international carriers that will be launched before the end of 2008. Recently the company demonstrated its ability to download its software at an Asian carrier, going online within one day.
