It is my understanding that application 09/051263 was split out into 6 different patents. See child continuity.

Much to my surprise I see that they have submitted 09/051263 for national stage on 8/8/08. There's that number 8 that is the Chinese lucky number!

But could someone explain this national stage thing. It appears that they submitted for national stage back in 1996 (See the published document tab). You can see that the original 1996 application was approved? in Europe? And still pending? in Japan?

I'm thinking that perhaps they need to pay maintenance to keep the wheels churing? Or are they resurecting something that had died? Appreciate any thoughts.
