As most of you know I am no fan of TPL in fact I consider the agreement we signed with TPL although seemingly necessary at the time probably the single most destructive thing to our share price that we have experienced in the last two plus years. Yes, we were tearing each other up and TPL has sold licensing but the run the ship in every way possible.
However... I am not sure that TPL would sell for "peanuts", the rights to the mmp unless they were selling their own chips in a side deal or they were desparate for cash and why should they be desparate for cash when we pay a good portion of their ovh.
TPL is using their in house staff to do the "leg work" on infringers and reverse engineering so therefore in my mind a good part of their overhead is being paid by Patriot. I have yet to hear of audit being done on the expenses we pay to PDS therefore I assume that the Leckrones are making the most of the expense money they receive from us.
Sooner or later I would think that the Leckrones will want to get some of their money out of tpl. To do that they will either have to go public go to a VC or be bought out. I do not think that they will want to show the mmp as a loss leader but as a pillar of their financial foundation. Therefore to sell out licensing for anything other than the reasons I gave above makes no sense to me.
This may be wishfull thinking on my part as I do not put anything past the Leckrones especially after the Sony fiasco and the wonderful seven million dollar offer they made to us three years ago but I have got to believe they would not do anything that would financially harm themselves.
Just a early evening thought.
God Bless All
